With the MVP ready and live, we were ready to build a design system.

WeDance was using the Tailwind UI kit, but it became clear that it wasn’t suitable for the brand style.

We started our design sprints and we realised that it was important to have our design system first to maintain the design consistency across all the teams working on different sprints for various features.

Step 2: We initially deconstructed the website into smaller and more manageable components, which we categorized into three levels of complexity: atoms, molecules, and organisms. This methodology allowed us to have a more granular view of the website, which in turn enabled us to better understand how each component interacts with one another.

Step 1: During one of our planning meetings, we voted on a design system. The Atomic design system received the most votes, as we could still use the Tailwind UI kit and adjust it to our brand styles. We conducted an audit of the website to determine what needed to be done and what could be re-worked.

Subsequently, we methodically listed each of these components in a Google spreadsheet, complete with their corresponding paths. This enabled us to have a comprehensive and organized view of the website, which we then used as a foundation for further analysis and optimization.

Step 3: We re-created the components, this time following the WeDance style.

Step4: Defining color palette & color styles

I worked with a team to define the color palette and styles for our design system. We already had the primary and accent colors defined for our brand, but we needed to work on danger, warning, success, and neutral colors.

To decide on the color schemes and ensure accessibility, we used color generator tools such as https://coolors.co and https://color.adobe.com.

Maintaining a consistent brand design style can have a significant impact on how WeDance is perceived by its audience. By having a cohesive look and feel across all web and social media platforms, users are more likely to remember and recognize the brand. A consistent design style also helps to establish trust and credibility, as it conveys a sense of professionalism and attention to detail. Additionally, a consistent design style can help to strengthen the brand's identity and make it more recognizable in a crowded marketplace. Therefore, it is essential for WeDance to ensure that its design style is consistent across all platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and any other social media channels it may use in the future.

The product owner suggested that we create flyers to promote the platform and attract new users. As the designer on the team, I took charge of the design process.

First, I researched effective flyer design techniques and looked for inspiration online. I put myself in the shoes of the target audience, which in this case was people who are interested in dance and looking for dance events locally.

After discussing with the team, we decided to focus on promoting the platform's USPs, such as discovering local events and community of like-minded dancers.

We wanted to make it clear that this platform was all about dancing and having fun, while also highlighting its convenience and affordability.

Next, I worked on the graphics and layout of the flyer. I chose vibrant colors that would catch people's attention and added images of people dancing.

After creating many design iterations and collecting feedback, we selected the most effective flyer design and printed it for distribution.

After implementing our new marketing strategy, we were thrilled to see the impressive results that followed. Our sign-ups increased by a significant margin, and we noticed a notable uptick in engagement with our platform. Users were interacted more frequently with our content, and we were receiving more inquiries about our services. One of the primary components of our marketing campaign was the distribution of physical flyers.
